Fiscal Year 2009/2010 – Fiscal Year 2012/2013
Goals and Objectives

Goal 1: Adults will have timely access to popular materials that stimulate their imaginations, respond to their current interests, and provide pleasurable reading, viewing, and listening experiences.

  • 1.1. By FY 2012/13, 80 percent of adults surveyed will indicate they found something good to read, watch or listen to at the library.
  • 1.2. By FY 2012/13, circulation of adult fiction will increase by 10 percent.
  • 1.3. By FY 2012/13, the circulation of media will increase by 10 percent.
  • 1.4. Each year, 75 percent of library users who reserve an item in the collection will receive that item within 30 days.

Goal 2: Teens (ages 13 to 17) will have materials that stimulate their imaginations, respond to their current interests, and provide pleasurable reading, viewing, and listening experiences.

  • 2.1. By FY 2012/13, 75 percent of teens surveyed will indicate they have found something good to read, watch or listen to at the library.
  • 2.2. By FY 2012/13, the circulation of popular teen materials will increase 10 percent.

Goal 3: Children (ages 6 to 12) will have materials, programs and services that stimulate their imaginations, respond to their current interests, and provide pleasurable reading, viewing, and listening experiences.

  • 3.1. By FY 2012/13, the number of children who attend programs sponsored or co-sponsored by the library will increase by 10 percent.
  • 3.2. Each year, at least 1,000 children will participate in the library’s summer reading program.
  • 3.3. By FY 2012/13, the circulation of children’s books will increase by 5 percent.
  • 3.4. By FY 2012/13, the circulation of children’s media will increase by 5 percent.

Goal 4: Preschool children will have materials, programs and services designed to help them to develop a love of books and reading and to prepare to enter school ready to read, listen, and learn.

  • 4.1. By FY 2012/13, the number of preschool children who attend programs sponsored or co-sponsored by the library will increase by 10 percent.
  • 4.2. By FY 2012/13, 80 percent of parents and caregivers will say the library helps their children develop the skills they need to be ready to learn to read, write, and listen.
  • 4.3. Each year, the library will place deposit collections in 2 preschools and day care centers.

Goal 5: Adults will have the resources and services they need to explore topics of personal interest and continue to learn throughout their lives.

  • 5.1. Each year, at least 2,000 people will receive the help they need to take full advantage of the wide array of electronic resources available.
  • 5.2: By FY 2012/13, 80 percent of people surveyed who received computer assistance will indicate that the assistance they received from staff was helpful.
  • 5.3: Each year, users will check out at least 86,000 adult nonfiction materials.
  • 5.4: By FY 2012/13, a minimum of 80 percent of adults surveyed who were looking for information or materials to explore a topic of personal interest will indicate the library’s collection was very good.

Goal 6: Residents and visitors will have the resources they need to connect the past with the present through their family histories and to understand the history and traditions of Daviess County.

  • 6.1: By FY 2012/13, the number of hits on the library’s local history and genealogy databases will increase by 10 percent.
  • 6.2: By FY 2012/13, 80 percent of users surveyed will evaluate the local history collections as very good.
  • 6.3: By FY 2012/13 the attendance at programs on local history or genealogy will increase by 10 percent.
