    Returning a library book early

Go to Amazon and sign in to your Amazon account

    1. Go to “Manage Your Kindle”
    2. Locate the item you want to return from the list of titles in Your Kindle Library (hint: it should be marked with an orange “public library” tag at the end of the book’s title)
    3. From the Action drop down menu, select “Delete from Library;” this will return the book early to the library
      1. You will get an email confirmation from Amazon that the book was returned successfully

Computer Download and Transfer to Kindle (This step not necessary on Kindle Fire)

If you have a 1st or 2nd generation Kindle (or are unable to access a Wi-Fi hotspot), follow these steps to download and transfer the ebook to your Kindle.

    1. Select the save button of the ebook you are downloading
    2. Be sure to pay attention to the location you are saving the ebook (when in doubt, save to your desktop so it will be easy to find)
    3. Look for the file that is the title of the book and ends with “.azw”
    4. Plug in your Kindle to the USB drive on your computer
    5. If a window pops up automatically that allows you to view folders on your Kindle, select that option. If it does not, go to My Computer and look under “Devices with Removable Storage” and select “Kindle”
    6. Drag and drop the “.azw” file to the folder named “Documents”
    7. Be sure to properly eject your Kindle before removing it from your computer
