Are your nerves frazzled from too much work? Do you long to spend a few days in some exotic locale or in the cool, crisp air of the mountains? If so, taking a vacation or some time to travel probably sounds like a really good idea right about now. However, if you’re like me, sometimes you don’t always know exactly where to start on finding just the right information in order to take that long-overdue vacation trip.
Well, never fear, the Daviess County Public Library is here to help you with your travel information. We have a variety of items here at the library that can be of assistance to you in making a decision on where to go on your next trip. Follow along with me and I will give you an idea of just what we have to offer here at the Daviess County Public Library.
At the Daviess County Public Library we have approximately 1,531 books, 120 DVD’s, 18 ebooks, 137 e-resources, and 231 sound recordings all about travel. Out of the total number of books we have on travel, approximately 115 of those are specifically geared towards a particular type of travel guide for specific states and countries published by DK-Eyewitness and Fodor’s guides.
If you happen to be more technology-oriented, you may want to try the multitude of websites that are available on the Internet. Here are several well-known sites to assist you in choosing lodging, dining, flight reservations, shopping and other trip-related activities. I use Google quite often to type in exact city and states to get more specific information for the area I’m interested in going to visit on vacation.
Remember also, that there are numerous apps available for your smart phones that can be of great assistance on vacations too. Some of the apps that I really like are as follows: Google Maps app, AAA Roadside assistance app, MurphyUSA app, any major chain hotel app such as Marriott, Hampton, Hilton, where you can book your room right through your phone, Sit or Squat (the best bathrooms anywhere), The Weather Channel, and any local app geared towards the city that you intend to visit. These can be especially helpful if you have never been to a specific locale before.
Regardless of what you may use to plan your trip, just remember that the Daviess County Public Library can offer you assistance in discovering some of the best ways to get away from it all. Don’t forget to check it out at your local library.
