    Owensboro Reads

    Kim Mattingly

The Owensboro Public School System and the Public Life Foundation recently launched a long-term campaign to increase literacy for all members of our community.  The campaign, called Owensboro Reads, is free and open to the public.  The goal is to encourage community members of all ages to read using the concept of “One Community Reading Together, Growing Together!”

The Owensboro Reads campaign is encouraging reading in a variety of ways, including partnering with the “Get Caught Reading” national campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read, holding a 30-Minutes-a-Day Reading Challenge to remind everyone to read at least 30 minutes every day, and holding a District-wide Summer Reading Challenge for students.  The Daviess County Public Library is having our annual Summer Reading Program for all ages June 1-July 31, 2014.
