Farmer’s Market a big success in Owensboro, KY

    By: Christy V. Temple

It’s summer time and the living is easy, or so they say. In any case, this time of year is great for being able to eat the freshest produce available. The growing season is longer and we are grateful to be able to reap some amazing fruits and vegetables that we can tend to take for granted at other times of the year when it’s cold and dormant outside.

Personally, summer is my favorite time of the year for so many reasons including longer daylight hours, warmer weather, blue skies and beaches, wearing shorts and t-shirts, vacations, and eating an amazing plethora of fruits and veggies that are so good for you and plentiful too. This is why I am always so thrilled when our local Farmer’s Market starts up again because I know that I am going to have access to some amazing locally-grown food. When you buy at the supermarket you hope that everything is okay but you never truly know because the product is usually coming from very far away.

I know when I go to the Owensboro Regional Farmer’s Market I have been extremely happy with the produce that I have taken home and eaten. I have yet to have anything that wasn’t great-tasting and good for me too. I know that the growers take pride in producing a great product that serves to further enhance what our community has to offer.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Owensboro Regional Farmer’s Market then I would suggest you check out the Facebook page under the same name.
