Much evil happens when good people do nothing. Bystanders are silent in the face of bigotry and hate toward people based on their race, religion, immigration status and more. In the Bystander Intervention and De Escalation training Showing Up for Racial Justice shares practices to become an Upstander with the skills to intervene in situations where someone is being abused because of who they are. This could be in the grocery line, at your child’s school or in the halls of political power. The point is to become active, an Upstander, to turn silence into effective action. Please note, one of the things that is included in the training is learning how to assess when the proper response is to walk away and when to get help! This program requires pre-registration to attend.
