The Daviess County Public Library Summer Reading program ended on July 31st. To celebrate, a very special guest visited the library. While children were making crafts and watching a movie, Scooby Doo was gearing up for his DCPL debut. Children were super excited to get their pictures taken and hang out with the mystery-solving pooch. It was a great end to a wonderful summer filled with fun programs, author visits, music, books, and an encore presentation of our popular film series Unscripted.
A total of 1,929 people participated in the Summer Reading program, with 1,538 children, 103 teens, and 288 adults registering and reading a total of 17,994 books. That’s a lot of reading! In addition, the library handed out over 500 books to children ages 0-12. The following is a list of the Top 5 Books Read by each age group during the Summer Reading program:
