HISTORY

1912 – Established as a Carnegie Free Public Library on the corner of Frederica and Ninth Streets.
1968 – Moved to 450 Griffith Avenue as Owensboro/Daviess County Public Library.
1993 – Online card catalog began.
1995 – Daviess County Public Library Taxing District was formed and the library was renamed Daviess County Public Library.
1997 – Internet access for the public became available.
2005 – Groundbreaking for new building.
2007 – Moved to 2020 Frederica Street, Owensboro KY.

Serves 104,457 people in Owensboro and Daviess County (Source: 2024 U.S. Census Bureau).
51,000 square feet.
Two floors for public access.  Third floor is staff offices.
Handicapped accessible.
